In spite of its mailing address, this modern dormer bungalow-style B&B home is situated less than two miles north of Cong on R. 345, ideal for staying close to the “Quiet Man” landmarks, Lough Corrib, and Ashford Castle. Situated just over a mile west of town on a quiet residential road, this new purpose-built dormer-bungalow is within easy walking distance to the Quay area. Hosts Dermot and Ann O'Flaherty offers 6 rooms (4 are en suite and 2 are standard), each with traditional or contemporary décor, orthopedic beds, and in-room TV, radio/alarm clock, hairdryer, coffee/tea-maker and a selection of books. Breakfast is served in a glass-enclosed conservatory with viewsof the neighboring countryside. This 3-story period house has a lot of old world charm with high ceilings and vintage furnishings as well as a downtown location. Hosts Stephen and Maria Breen offer 4 guest rooms, each with TV and coffee/tea-maker. You have to be able to climb stairs, however. Car parking is provided for guests. Of course, it helps that it is owned by Margaret Collins, whose husband Gerry Collins is the local expert on the movie and conducts “The Quiet Man” walking tours of the village. Each modern country-style bedroom is equipped with TV, telephone, internet connections and a DVD player (in case you want to watch “The Quiet Man” in your room). Guest facilities include a hot tub, sauna and tennis court.
