In spite of the "Castle" in its name, this hotel is not a castle, nor does it pretend to be, but it is the shining star of Bunratty accommodations. Everyone wants to stay here, and for many good reasons. Situated on high ground directly across from Bunratty Castle and the legendary Durty Nelly's Pub, this 3-star hotel blends an 18th century manor house with two harmonious wings of 80 rooms that offer every 21st century convenience including air conditioning, internet access, and ice machines in the halls. Facilities include restaurant/pub and the wildly popular (with locals as well as visitors) Bunratty Village Mills shopping village which is located at the foot of the hotel grounds. Because of its central location and excellent facilities, it was quickly upgraded to a full-service hotel. The traditional-style décor includes antiques, equestrian-themed art, warming fireplaces, and festive pastel tones. The 20 spacious guest rooms offer the usual hotel amenities plus unique extras such as welcome drinks, free access for international phone calling cards, computer dataport, and coffee-tea-maker. For many years, this was the only hotel in Bunratty and it is still very popular even though it now has competition across the street. In recent years, it has carved out its own niche by adding a large conference center that attracts a steady stream of meetings and groups. Nestled in wooded grounds beside Bunratty Castle, this contemporary-style hotel has a distinctive stone-faced ranch-style layout, with two long corridors containing 115 rooms on two levels.
