Situated on the main thoroughfare of the village, next to Gallagher's restaurant, this new purpose-built guesthouse is the domain of Michael and Mary Walsh who made a name for themselves as owners of the Hunter's Lodge restaurant in Newmarket-on-Fergus. They offer 11 extra-large and well-outfitted guest rooms, 9 of which are on the ground floor. Facilities include a cheery breakfast room and a huge Alpine-style lounge with a skylit and beamed ceiling and a homey atmosphere. If the surroundings look familiar, the building, which has a hacienda-style layout with flower-filled courtyard, was formerly the thatched-roof Avoca shop. € Web site: www.bunrattycourtyard.com
